Smooths texture, reduces scars, and promotes youthful skin.
✔ Follow a Gentle Skincare Routine – Use a gentle, non-irritating skincare routine in the days before the procedure. Stick to a mild cleanser and moisturizer, avoiding harsh products.
✔ Arrive with Clean Skin – Ensure your skin is clean, free from makeup, oils, and lotions. Arriving with freshly cleansed skin helps the treatment to be more effective.
✔ Consult About Medications – If you are using retinoids, acne treatments, or any other prescription topical treatments, inform your provider. They may need to be paused for 5-7 days before the treatment to avoid irritation.
✔ Shave the Treatment Area – If you are having microneedling on areas like the chin, upper lip, or other body areas with hair, it’s best to shave 24 hours before your appointment (avoid waxing or plucking).
🚫 No Sun Exposure or Tanning – Avoid sun exposure, tanning beds, or self-tanners for at least 1-2 weeks before your treatment. Sunburned or tanned skin may increase the risk of irritation or complications.
🚫 Stop Using Active Skincare Ingredients – Discontinue the use of retinoids, AHAs/BHAs, benzoyl peroxide, and exfoliating scrubs for at least 5-7 days before your treatment to minimize the risk of skin irritation.
🚫 No Chemical Peels or Other Harsh Treatments – Avoid chemical peels, microdermabrasion, or other invasive facial treatments for at least 2 weeks before your SkinPen appointment.
🚫 Avoid Waxing or Threading – Do not wax or thread the treatment area 1-2 weeks before the procedure to prevent skin sensitivity.
🚫 Limit Alcohol & Caffeine – Reduce alcohol and caffeine consumption 24 hours before your treatment to help minimize any increased skin sensitivity or inflammation.
🚫 Avoid Blood Thinners – If you are on blood-thinning medications, consult your provider, as they may advise you to stop taking them a few days before your treatment to reduce the risk of bruising.
During a SkinPen treatment, you'll feel a slight sensation of vibration and tiny pinpricks on your skin as the device works its magic. It's normal to experience some mild discomfort, but it’s usually very tolerable. We use a numbing cream beforehand to minimize any pain, so most people describe the feeling as a bit of pressure or a light scratchy sensation. Afterward, your skin may feel a little warm and look slightly red, similar to a mild sunburn, but this typically goes away within a few hours.
